At
the Convent of the Good Shepherd in Toronto we receive
the crafted items from many Good Shepherd Centers. Working
with volunteers, some of them are recent immigrants or
refugee claimants looking for Canadian experience and
an opportunity to practice English, we prepare the goods
for the marketplace. From Toronto, we send goods out to
various Good Shepherd houses in Canada and to individuals
who do the same in their communities.
Many schools participate in Sharing Fair by bringing the
Box of Hope program to their school community. Sharing
Fair has been used to enhance business, religious and
social justice programs. With the students participating
in this program there is the potential for them to: value
their education and lifestyle, acquire leadership, entrepreneurial
and career development skills and foster identity, purpose
and sense of belonging through social justice. The students
experience how they too can make a difference in the world
by a simple act.
Sharing Fair is made possible in Canada through our many
volunteers making it possible for 100% of the proceeds
to be returned to the women and girls in the form of new
orders; providing them with hope, dignity and sustainability.
